D.C. Could Allow To-Go Cocktails to Continue Permanently

The next time you’re able to go out for an after-work Old Fashioned or a Taco Tuesday margarita, you’ll probably really savor the experience—and the beverage. For now, D.C. has temporarily allowed some of your favorite restaurant-bar combos to mix up cocktails for you to enjoy at home. But there’s some talk of making the practice permanent.

According to reporting from reason.com, Mayor Bowser is pushing to allow this temporary change to continue even post-COVID. Many other states and cities around the country are considering easing up on their liquor restrictions, as well, in an effort to help local businesses rebound. As Washington, D.C. and other spots around the country continue to slowly reopen this summer, keep an eye out for updates on the take-home cocktail debate! You might be able to enjoy your favorite mixed drink at home indefinitely!
